about

The Uptights were a punk band based out of the Bay Area in the late 1970's.

Taken from promo:

"POWER ROCK OVERKILL is a good title for the type of music to expect from UPTIGHTS....
The show they put on deals with a WARLIKE outlook with overhead projections of battlefields, koolaid tests, heaven 7 and hell and Jim Jones just to name a few ...
The band is three-piece and everyone sings.
CARY CRUEL -- plays as if booms and bombs were all we live for and there is no turning back...
LARRY GODWIN -- plays a bass when he isn't beating it to pieces...
GUS ICKY -- drummer for the band goes through drum heads made of leather and thats bad all around good guy!"

Often sharing the stage with bands like Flipper, The Lewd, Toiling Midgets, The Wounds, Dead Kennedys and more, The Uptights played up and down the West Coast in the late 1970s and early 80's, initially hailing from Blue Lake before the band made a home in Emeryville.

Forty years later, the glass-like distorted guitars, huge bass riffs and songs satirizing America's War Machine fetishism, snare crack n' roll at the listener's ears faster than it took for ol' Donny to deploy the National Guard. Wars, cult leaders, mysterious murders, white supremacists, corporatism, corruption and more wars. It would seem not much has changed.
